“Duellum” is Latin for War; “Duellona”, the Goddess of War. The title suggests a war with specific reference to Dual, as in a duality. The video consists of binary relations between two videos comprised as one. [Dual]lum(2014) a Stop-motion video installation, comprised of two video pieces in conversation with one another, represents a woman physically struggling against a dark shadow. Metaphorically this entity represents the mind and is revealed imaginatively in the imagery on the right. The video symbolically represents any damaging psychological struggle and the human capacity of survival. A war of the mind and soul is no easy duel and it takes patience, courage and pure human will to survive any internal battle. The hardest war anyone will ever face is that of the psyche.
